ARCHILAB 2013: Naturalizing Architecture

Exhibition: ARCHILAB 2013: Naturalizing Architecture
Year: 2013 – 2014
Location: FRAC Centre, Orleans, France

Matsys is pleased to announce the opening of the ARCHILAB 2013: Naturalizing Architecture exhibition at the FRAC Centre in Orleans, France. Curated by ARCHILAB’s founders, Marie-Ange Brayer, Director of FRAC Centre and Frédéric Migayrou, Deputy Director of the Centre Pompidou, the exhibition features three projects by Matsys including the permanent installation P_Wall (2013). The other Matsys projects are Chrysalis (III), on loan from the Centre Pompidou, and Sietch Nevada, a speculative urban design for a future undergoing a peak-water crisis. The exhibition will open to the public on September 14, 2013 and closes on February 2, 2014.

The exhibition brings together forty artists, designers, and architects investigating the territory between nature, technology, and architecture. Matsys is proud to exhibit its work along side our many respected peers and friends including Achim Menges, Neri Oxman, Marc Fornes, Jenny Sabin, Skylar Tibbits, Philippe Morel, Jose Sanchez, Roland Snooks, Thom Faulders, and many more. If you are anywhere near Orleans over the next 6 months, check out this amazing exhibition.

From the Curators’ text:
Broadly exceeding the boundaries of their practice, architects now develop a practice at the crossroads of design, computer science, engineering and biology. Conditions for production in the domain of architecture are radically redefined by this convergence, as well as by the constant evolution of the processes and tools for digital manufacturing.
